Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition

The Arab Fisheries Group will be attending and exhibiting at the Second Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AGRITEQ2008) to be held in New International Exhibition Center, Qatar between March 24 to 28th, 2008.

 

Saudi Minister of Agriculture visits Tilapia farm

The Saudi Arabian Minister for Agriculture paid a visit to the Khulais Tilapia farm last week.  The visit was most welcome and gave the Arab Fisheries Group Chairman, Khalid Al Aboodi, the opportunity to explain to the minister how the Arab Fisheries Group plans to expand its operations into other aquaculture ventures over the next five years.

 

Project Assessment in Qatar

The Arab Fisheries Group is currently evaluating the potential creation of a new fisheries processing facility in Qatar.

 

Processing Facility

The Arab Fisheries Group is working on the final phase of development of its Jeddah based processing facility.  Designed to process fish and shrimp, as well as provide storage facilities, the unit also expects to provide contract services to third parties as well.

 

Environmental Development Assessment

Having undertaken various site assessments for the potential development of a new cage fish farm in the Red Sea during 2006, the Arab Fisheries Co. is now seeking confirmation from the relevant Saudi Arabian authorities regarding the initial environmental benchmark for the site prior to commencing any development.   As with all development work undertaken by the Arab Fisheries Group, we are working with the international consulting and development company - AquaBioTech Group (www.aquabt.com) to see how  best to develop the project, whilst ensuring that the environment is protected and the environmental development policy of the company is respected.   The results of the assessment benchmark will lead to a detailed Development Impact Assessment whereby our consultants will advise on ways of minimising and mitigating a variety of environmental impacts that the project will incur.

 

New Tilapia Farm

The Wadi Al Rayan Tilapia farm development in Egypt is a new fish farming development for the Arab Fisheries Group and represents our commitment towards expanding our production of high quality Tilapia in Egypt for the domestic market.  The site is expected to be completed in the spring of 2007 and has the capasity to produce around 200 MT of Tilapia each year.
